     Supang National High School, originally known as Buenavista National High School Extension, had only 5 teachers when it was renamed Supang National High School in 2007, thanks to the efforts of the municipal mayor. Located in Supang, Buenavista, Guimaras, Philippines. It now includes more than a thousand students divided into grades seven through twelve.      Supang National High School received complete academic assistance from the Department of Education-Guimaras and the local government unit. They offer technical assistance per school.      October 8 on Tuesday is my first day of observing my cooperating teacher, ma'am Kiezel Jan Penit, teaching in Supang National High School. Ma'am Kiezel is a grade 9 English teacher who teaches five classes (Platinum, Silver, Bronze, Gold, and Titanium) from Monday to Friday.      The first class I observed was my Cooperating Teacher's 9-Platinum advisory class. Ma'am Kiezel began the lesson with a greeting and asked one of her students to lead the prayer. Before beginning the lesson, she gave me a few minutes to introduce myself and let the students have the opportunity to ask questions about me.      The class begins with Ma'am Kiezel explaining the meaning of the vocabulary that the students had learned the day before. Teaching Plan

     Supang National High School uses a curriculum known as Kto12 and Matatag. Matatag is a new curriculum that has only been implemented in grade 7. It is very similar to the Indonesian curriculum, Merdeka, with which I am more familiar. However, when I was assigned to a grade 9 class that still utilizes Kto12, I was surprised by how different the lesson plan looked. I would think it is simpler than the lesson plans I used to create in Indonesia. I still have difficulty creating my lesson plan, but I am fortunate to have a cooperating teacher who has been so helpful in guiding me through the process.  In this post, I will just discuss the Kto12 curriculum, which is the one I used to teach in my class.      The Kto12 curriculum in the Philippines is a complete educational system that includes Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education. Teaching Practice

     My days of practice teaching at Supang National High School have been full of enthusiasm and joy. It has never seemed dull to teach my students since the first day I began practicing. Handling 5 sections for 5 days straight was a bit of a challenge for me because I had no prior teaching experience;  it was a first for everything.      As planned in my lesson plan, I spent my first day primarily concentrating on the lesson activities. I would begin my class with a greeting and ask one of the students to lead the prayer before beginning my lesson with a reading drill, which is similar to discovering new vocabulary that we would see throughout our lesson, and I would give them 10 new vocabularies to write down and we would discuss the vocabulary the following day.   Continue with the next activity, which is a debate. Summary and Suggestion

     October 5th, 2024, after a 24 hour travel, we arrived safely in Guimaras. Three hours from school to the airport, three hours waiting for our flight to Manila, four hours from Jakarta to Manila, seven hours waiting for our connecting flight to Iloilo, one and a half hours from Manila to Iloilo, and another six hours driving from the airport to the Guimaras dorm. Literally a 24 hour journey, something I have never experienced before in my life. Our first lunch together at Jollibee with Dr. Joel Japitana, the Director of International Linkages, Guimaras State University      The reason I joined the Seateacher program was to observe and experience teaching in different countries (in this case, the Philippines). I also got to learn about their culture, gorgeous surroundings, and make new friends who I can consider family.
